Richmond, VA. August 24, 2013. Aunt Christine Brown and volunteers brought the Unity Campaign’s WE US – Walk Everywhere in Unity’s Shoes project to Chris’ hometown of Tappahannock and Richmond, VA.
WE US provides Reebok Classics to at-risk youth in underserved neighborhoods in an effort to remind young people that whenever and wherever we walk, we are a united community. Chris launched WE US earlier this summer in three neighborhoods in South Los Angeles in collaboration with the LA City Mayor’s Office, Los Angeles Police Department, gang interventionists, and community leaders.
WE US distributed Reeboks Classics at the following events:
Richmond, VA – Listen Up Parents! The Teens Are Talking Forum – August 24th, 2013
This is the second year that the Symphonic Love Foundation has sponsored the 6th Annual “Parents Listen Up! Teens Are Talking” teen forum. The Forum was a huge success with hundreds of teens in attendance from Highland Springs, Monacan, Glen Allen, Henrico, James River, Lloyd C. Byrd, Meadowbrook, Carver, Hermitage, Varina, Clover Hill high schools, and others.
The Symphonic Love Foundation donated 500 new pairs of Reeboks, Black Pyramid t-shirts, Symphonic Love t-shirts and backpacks.
Teens in attendance made a pledge with the founder of the forum, Miss Community Clovia, to choose education over incarceration.
Tappahannock, VA – Tappahannock Recreation Center – August 22nd, 2013
Symphonic Love Foundation and the Tappahannock Recreation Center joined together for a Back-to-School cookout for neighborhood youth in Chris’ hometown. Hundreds of young people were treated to face painting, mural painting and free Reeboks!
